Information on ports in the USA

USA destination for sea transport

Since the beginning of Seafaring the transport of goods by sea has been of enormous importance for every nation. Initially cumbersome and above all unsafe transport routes and months of waiting for the freight have changed into the opposite over the centuries thanks to modern technology.
In the early days of seafreight, complicated sea routes and customs led to much uncertainty in freight transport. Today, this is handled around the globe with the most modern technology and tracking of the freight at all times.

The most important ports in the USA

By seafreight goods today bridge large distances and long distances as agreed upon by reliable shipping - on time and as desired by the customer. Standard today are so-called norm containers, which are used to transport the freight.
In the last few years, especially the sea freight USA has increased, so that many forwarding agencies have specialised in such transport routes - Spedition USA - and carry out a full transport for the customer - from customs clearance to the subsequent transport to the port of destination.
The Seafreight USA offers a large number of ports for this purpose, which, thanks to the most modern infrastructure, make the handling easy. This includes the 30 sqm area in the Port of Los Angeles (Port of Los Angeles) and of course the port in New York (New York Harbor), as well as the equally important Boston Harbor (Port of Boston). There are also numerous other ports in the USA. In recent years, Asian countries in particular have overtaken the cargo ports in the USA. Today, only 2 of the 20 largest ports in the world are located in the USA. The port of Los Angeles (13th place with 8.5 million containers handled) and New York Harbor (19th place with 5.3 million containers handled).

Constant expansion does not protect against bureaucratic effort

But also thanks to the constant expansion of the ports, the bureaucratic effort for the USA's sea transport is made even more difficult. For example, freight containers destined for the USA will have to be completely searched before loading by 1 July 2012 at the latest.
For the specialised freight forwarder USA this means not least a high additional expenditure, which is reflected above all in terms of time. The client will have to expect further surcharges in the future.
